I recently installed a new bottom weather seal for my garage door, but it turned out taller than the previous one. This change has misaligned the door lock mechanism with the opening slot in the garage door track (check out the attached photo!). I'm considering cutting the track slightly taller to fix this, but I'm not sure what tool would be best for the job, or if this is even a good idea. Any suggestions or insights on this would be really appreciated! I've also thought about some alternatives, like replacing the weather seal with a shorter one or adjusting the lock mechanism, but I'd prefer to avoid those if possible.

A jig saw with a metal cutting blade should do the trick! It’s definitely a viable option for cutting the track. Just make sure you have a stable surface to work on while you’re cutting. If you're aiming for a rectangular shape, you should be able to get clean vertical cuts, and yes, the jig saw can handle horizontal cuts too—you just need to be steady and patient!

Glad to hear that! I’ll definitely give it a shot. Just to confirm, the jig saw should handle the horizontal cuts no problem, right?
