How can I DIY a temporary fix for water leaking into my basement?

I need some advice on a DIY solution for a persistent water leakage issue in my basement. We have some old cellar stairs that are still part of the foundation, and when it rains heavily, water spills in from a crack in one of the steps, creating a waterfall effect. Right now, we have working drains and a sump pump, but because the flooring is uneven, the water pools instead of flowing towards the drains. **We plan to regrade the outside ground once the winter is over, but I need a temporary fix until then.** I'm thinking of using a PVC gutter to capture the water at the bottom step and channel it through a funnel into some tubing leading to the drain. The challenge is figuring out how to seal everything tightly. I'm considering thick plastic but unsure what adhesive would create a watertight seal. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated!

It sounds like a tricky situation! One thing that could help is to upload some pictures of the affected area. Visuals always offer better insight, and it might spark some more tailored solutions. You can use a site like Imgur and share the links here if you decide to go that route!
