Hey everyone! I've got this really bright LED light on my hardwired smoke detector, and it's seriously like a glowing UFO in my bedroom. It's so bright that it wakes me up at night! Here are my two questions: 1) Does anyone know of hardwired smoke detectors with lights that are easier to cover up? 2) Is it possible to swap out my hardwired smoke detector for battery-operated ones in the bedrooms? Thanks for your help!

If you’re up for some DIY, you might be able to disassemble the detector. Check if it’s held together with screws, and if so, you can take the cover off and paint over the LED itself. That should help cut down on the light without leaving a glow.
You can try black electrical tape, but I get that it still might not do the trick. Some people have mentioned using stickers designed for LED lights or even nail polish to dim the glow. Have you tried those yet?
Yeah, I did the tape thing, but it still left a glow around the detector, which is super annoying!
Another quick fix could be using a Sharpie or a dry erase marker on the LED. It’ll definitely make it a lot less bright without all the hassle! Just be careful not to block anything else.

Tried that! And it still left this glowing green ring around it. Super frustrating!
