How Can I Effectively Cool My House in Florida?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out how to keep my house cooler since I live in Florida. My home is a single-story with around 2100 sq ft, and the AC runs constantly because, well, it gets really hot here! I've been exploring different solutions for improving attic air circulation, but I'm a bit overwhelmed. I'm looking into options like solar attic fans, ridge vents, and passive vents. Any advice on what might work best?

First off, you might want to consider sealing any air leaks and improving your insulation. That can do wonders for keeping your house cool. If your attic is ventilated, adding more vents might help reduce the heat build-up there. Heavy curtains or insulating blinds can also keep the sun's heat from creeping in. Plus, a whole house fan can be useful at night when it's cooler outside.

I recommend doing an energy audit to see where you can improve efficiency. Also, adding some shade to the outside of your house on the south and west-facing sides can help significantly. Don’t forget about energy-efficient blinds or window tinting to block out the heat without sacrificing natural light!

Have you thought about using window AC units? They can be really effective, especially in the hottest rooms like the kitchen or bedrooms. New inverter models are pretty quiet and might cool better than a central unit on those scorching days. Just keep in mind that central AC is great for humidity, but it can struggle to keep up when it’s really hot outside.
