How can I effectively cut granite slabs for window panes to minimize waste?

I'm working on a project to create window panes from granite stone slabs. I have the dimensions for the windows I need to make, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to cut the stone to ensure that I waste as little material as possible. I feel like this might be a math-related problem. Any tips or methods you can suggest?

You might want to check out some online tools designed for this sort of task. Calculators like OptiCut and Cutlist Optimizers can help you figure out how to cut your slabs efficiently based on your dimensions. They take the guesswork out of it and can save a lot of time—and stone!

One way to approach this is to make a sketch of your slabs along with the dimensions you need for each pane. Using a good diamond blade on a concrete saw can help you get clean cuts. The layout will save you some material if you plan it out carefully. Also, if you can, try to cut lengths that allow you to fit the pieces together without wasting long strips. Remember, measuring twice and cutting once can save a lot of hassle!

That's super helpful! I'll definitely sketch it out and plan ahead to make the most of each slab.
