My neighbor's bamboo is taking over and creeping into my garden, and I need some advice on how to deal with it. Should I be spraying the leaves or cutting the shoots and applying something directly to them? I'm also considering digging a barrier with shuttering boards to keep it from coming back. Any tips on the best approach would be greatly appreciated!

Why not just use hand grenades? Just kidding! But seriously, if you can, try to get rid of it yourself first. Bamboo can be relentless, so a good dig might help. But do remember, if it's really out of control, getting a professional may save you a lot of trouble in the long run. And about spraying, be careful if it’s on your neighbor's side!
If it’s a big problem, you might want to bring in the pros for help. Bamboo is tricky—I had a similar issue. After digging it out, I found new shoots popping up throughout the year! It was originally in a pot that cracked, and the rhizomes spread everywhere. Make sure to dig deep and get every last piece because if you leave any, it'll just come back. The good news is that bamboo doesn't typically go too deep, but it spreads out horizontally. Good luck!
Dealing with bamboo is definitely a pain! You’ve got to dig really deep to get all the roots, and avoid splintering the rhizomes because even small bits can regrow into new plants. My mom ended up paying someone to get rid of it because it was such a hassle. So, if it’s a serious invasion, consider hiring help!
