I've been battling this pesky weed for over ten years now, and it's finally beat me! I've tried digging it out from my borders regularly, even trying to remove as much of the root as I could. It's spread all over the place, and I need some solid advice on how to tackle it once and for all. I'm hoping there's a product I can apply that specifically targets this weed while minimizing damage to my other plants. Ideally, something that kills it systemically when applied to the leaves. Any suggestions would be super helpful!

It sounds like you've got ground elder! I've just discovered it in my garden too, and I've learned it regenerates from even a tiny root left behind. I've decided to go for Roundup Total with glyphosate to tackle it all, but keep in mind that it’s persistent, especially since it sometimes hides under hedges. I'm normally into organic gardening, but this stuff has me ready to go nuclear! Just be prepared for some collateral damage if you have cherished plants nearby.
You’re definitely dealing with ground elder. I can see it sneaking up around the stump of something you removed! The best way to eliminate it is by fork-digging, which is gentler on the roots than using a spade. After lifting the plants, observe where the roots spread. You can also smother big patches with old carpet or even mulch to keep it at bay.
Yup, that’s ground elder alright. It’s a tough one to get rid of—my dad struggled with it just like you. But here's a fun fact: it’s actually edible! So, if you’re up for it, there might be ways to enjoy your battle with this weed!
