How Can I Effectively Reduce Garage Smoke with an Exhaust Fan?

I'm living with a chain smoker who consistently smokes in our attached garage, which causes a lot of smoke to linger and even leak into the house through the walls. To address the leakage, I'm planning to insulate the shared walls, but I'm also considering installing an exhaust fan to tackle the persistent smoke issue. I'm curious if this is a sensible approach and what kind of exhaust fan would be a good choice for this situation. Since the garage has two exterior doors but no windows, I would likely need to cut a hole in a wall for installation. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

Honestly, installing an exhaust fan sounds like a solid plan! I've dealt with a similar problem where a broken heater left an exhaust hole in my garage. I replaced it with an exhaust fan and it's been pretty effective. It helps clear out odors from working on my car and keeps the air circulating without needing to open doors. Plus, you can use it alongside a dehumidifier or AC unit to duct the hot air outside, which is a nice bonus!

That's good to know! Did you have any trouble with installation or sizing the fan?
