I'm dealing with a pretty frustrating situation where the wall between my room and my parents' room is quite hollow, which means when I'm on the phone or gaming, they can hear me, even if I'm speaking softly. This causes a lot of annoyance for both of us. The wall in front of my desk is particularly bad, while the one on my right is solid brick and doesn't seem to let sound through. I need some practical advice on how to soundproof that hollow wall so that I'm barely audible. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

One option is to really dig into it by taking down the drywall and adding some rock wool insulation, then rehang the drywall. If that's too much work, a heavy curtain could do a decent job, or you could use adhesive felt pads. You might also want to try making your own sound dampening panels with wood and rock wool, it can be quite effective!
