Hey everyone! I'm a new homeowner and I've noticed that as our house settled, the floors shifted a bit. Now there are some noticeable gaps at the bottom of the walls where the molding meets the hardwood floors. I've also spotted some spiders peeking through these gaps, and I want to sort this out quickly! What can I use to seal these spaces? Is there a specific type of caulk that's best for this? I might be able to upload a photo if needed in the comments.

If the gaps are smaller than about 3/16 of an inch, you can just use caulk to seal them up. For larger gaps, consider installing base shoe or quarter round molding if you don't have it already. The base shoe is a smaller piece of molding that goes right above the floor and helps cover any larger gaps. Also, don’t forget to check for any exterior gaps if you want to keep the bugs out!

Thanks for the tip! For those exterior gaps, should we just inspect around the landscaping? We have some plants in front of the house that might complicate things when trying to check the base.
