How Can I Finally Get Rid of Aphids in My Herb Garden?

I'm really at my wit's end here! I have around 10 herbs that I mostly keep indoors but bring outside to bask in the sun during the day. Unfortunately, I had to throw out two of my plants because they were overrun with aphids. I've tried using Natria neem oil spray, but it didn't help—plus, it ended up damaging my plants too. I also created a homemade spray with alcohol, vinegar, and dish soap, but that didn't work either and just killed off a lot of my leaves. I'm particularly worried about my spinach plant, which is nearly two feet tall and has been thriving for months, but now seems in danger from these pesky aphids. If anyone has any unique solutions or different approaches I haven't tried yet, I would love to hear them! This is my first time really getting into growing plants, so any advice would be super appreciated!

It’s tough dealing with pests, and unfortunately, there’s no surefire way to get rid of them permanently. I’d recommend going with a simple soap and water solution instead—it’s less harsh on your plants. Just mix a bit of soap with water, spray it on, let it dry, and then rinse with a strong blast from the hose every few days. This approach should help control the aphids without ruining your plants. And definitely be cautious of some gardening advice you find online, as a lot of it is misleading!

Bugs are a constant battle in gardening! My advice would be to spray off aphids with water daily and try to create a friendly environment for ladybugs and other predators. They’re great at keeping aphid populations in check. Also, try to grow more plants than you need to offset losses—some will inevitably fall victim to pests.

Exactly! I’ve found that having plenty of plants helps support the ecosystem, and the ladybugs will show up to help manage any bugs you have!
