How Can I Find a Reliable Woodworker for My Project?

Asked By CraftyFox42 On

I have a design that I want to mass-produce and need someone who can help me create some jigs to make cutting and assembling the product much faster and more consistent. Ideally, I want to meet with a woodworker, show them my design, and collaborate on making a few cutting, drilling, and assembly jigs. I'd like to test them out by assembling 1-2 pieces to ensure everything works as intended. I previously tried to hire someone I know, but he was unreliable. Now, I'm not sure where to look for help, so I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. By the way, I'm located in the Los Angeles area. Thanks for any tips!

It sounds like you're actually looking for a machinist rather than just a woodworker. Machinists specialize in precision equipment, and they could help with your jigs. You might want to expand your search to include shops that deal with metalworking as well.

Have you thought of reaching out to local woodworking guilds or clubs? They can be excellent resources for finding people with the skills you need. Also, calling professional cabinet builders or local lumber yards could yield some good contacts.

You might want to look for a local cabinet maker. They often have the skills you need for creating precise jigs and might be able to help with your project as well. Check out some woodworking shops near you, or search online for craftsmen in the area.
