How Can I Find Out How Cockroaches Are Getting Into My House?

I've been dealing with cockroaches coming into my house even after getting pest spray treatment, and I'm at my wit's end! I've made sure all my windows and doors are shut tight and even used tape around the edges to block potential entry points. I've also covered the bathroom exhaust fan and checked the drain covers. The only thing I think might still be a concern is the air conditioning vent since we have a ducted system. It's new, so sealing shouldn't be a problem, but I really can't figure out how else they might be getting in. This situation is really stressful for me because I have a huge phobia of cockroaches. Should I call in an air conditioning technician to ensure everything is sealed properly, or will they think I'm overreacting? Any advice would be appreciated.

You might want to try delta dust along with a squeeze duster. It's another solid approach to getting rid of them and can reach those sneaky spots!

Just spraying isn't enough, unfortunately. You should refresh the gel baits every few days and place them in every nook and cranny where they might hide. It’s a slow process, but consistency is key. Make sure to swap out your sticky traps regularly, too. Over time, you'll see a difference!

Have you considered using diatomaceous earth? It's pretty effective and safe if you apply it correctly. Just dust a little around your home; it should help with the crawlers.

I totally understand your fear; cockroaches can be super creepy! Have you thought about sealing your baseboards with flexible caulk? That’s a spot many people overlook, but roaches love hiding there. Also, using gel bait in those dark corners and areas where you’ve seen droppings can really help. It might feel like a lot of work, but keeping those traps fresh is key! Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I think our baseboards are fine since we recently renovated. I had no idea they could get in through electrical outlets, though! I'll definitely look into getting some plugs for those.
