How Can I Fix a Hole in My Baseboard Trim Easily?

After recently purchasing our first home, we're looking to spruce things up, especially since the previous owners made some questionable design choices. We have a hole in our baseboard trim that needs fixing, and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to do this. Just to note, this hole is actually an improvement from the metal outlet that was there before! Although we don't need a perfect fix (since the house is 76 years old and has its charm), the hole is near a doorway, so hiding it with furniture might not be the best option. Any creative suggestions would be appreciated!

Instead of a dowel, I recommend using a face grain oak plug. It will blend way better than end grain and won’t stick out nearly as much. Just measure the hole and grab the right plug size; you can find various sizes on Amazon. Make sure to align the grain of the plug with the grain of your flooring. You’ll likely need some stain to match the plug, and shellac works great for that!

Sweet I will check this out too! We conveniently already have some stain from some other projects.
