How Can I Fix a Loose Outdoor Outlet Without Removing My Siding?

I've got this outlet outside my condo that's giving me problems. It seems like there's a loose screw on one side because it pulls out a bit when I unplug something. The other side is nice and firm. I'm not too keen on taking off all the siding just to fix it, so I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to use some construction adhesive to hold it down instead. Any thoughts on this?

If you pull everything from the box, consider drilling from the inside and putting a screw in there to secure it better. It'll keep you from having to take off the siding, and should hold it in place pretty well.

You can actually tackle this without ripping off the siding! First, try removing the white trim piece and the outlet cover. It should give you better access to those screws. If the outlet is still loose, it might be worth checking if the box itself is damaged. If that's the case, you might need a different approach, like adding a screw from inside the box if you can reach it.

Ah, good idea! I just did that, and when I removed the outlet cover, I found out the box was damaged. Now the screw just spins instead of tightening.

Just unscrew that gray cover to access the screws for the outlet. It should give you the chance to tighten things up without all that extra hassle.
