Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on how to fix a sliding door that's become extremely difficult to open. My parents have an Andersen sliding door at their home, and over the years, it's gotten worse. We had a professional from Renewal by Andersen check it out, and they believe the issue is due to a slow leak from a tub on the second floor that's caused the beam above the door to sag. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for cost-effective repairs. Do you think we need to replace the whole door and the beam, or is it possible to just swap out the beam? I've attached a couple of pictures of the door for reference. Thanks a lot!

Honestly, the picture was too dark to get a good look, but I'd suggest starting by removing the top trim and some drywall to see the header. It might be that there are plates or shims that could be removed to lift the door jamb. If the beam is sagging, then it definitely needs replacing. Make sure there are proper supports underneath too!
If I end up needing help, would I reach out to a carpenter or someone else for this kind of job?
It sounds like you might just need to replace the beam if the door frame is still in good shape. But keep in mind that it’s not a simple job. The tricky part is determining if the beam goes across both sliding doors. Ideally, the floor joists should run parallel to the wall of the sliders; if not, it’ll complicate things more. Good luck!
If I wanted to tackle this, who would be the best professional to call? A carpenter or a contractor?
Thanks for the insight! Fingers crossed it’s just the beam, but I appreciate the heads-up about the difficulty.

Thanks for the advice! I put up some more pictures, hopefully they help more. Appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!
