I'm dealing with a frustrating flooding problem in my basement. My sump pump is functioning well, but there's this puzzling little square cutout near it where water constantly floods out instead of being directed into the sump. This happens every time it rains. I noticed that water in your sump basin seemed pretty high, which could indicate that the pump isn't kicking on. Double-check that pump to ensure it’s really working.
Also, try to pinpoint where exactly the water is coming from. It looks like it might be seeping from that square hole on the left side of the basin. By the way, what's the other hole behind the sump basin with the hose going into it? It could be relevant!
One easy fix for your situation is to use a masonry blade on a circular saw to create shallow channels that guide water from that square cutout to your sump pit. Just make sure to cut cautiously, about 1/4" at a time, and wear a respirator for safety.
If you're up for a more challenging option, consider digging around that cutout to see what’s inside. It’s likely just dirt, so you could clean it out to the depth of the surrounding concrete, wire brush the walls, and then fill it with hydraulic cement to seal it up. Good luck!

The water actually wasn't high at all in the sump pump basin; I think it was just a bad photo with shadows. The pump definitely works; I just had it installed a few months ago. The water is definitely leaking from that square cutout beside the pump. The hose is just a water line that goes into the basin; it’s just divided by a 2x4.
