How Can I Fix My Patchy Lawn as a New Gardener?

Asked By SunnyGnome47 On

I'm new to home gardening and my lawn is in rough shape. There's a lot of patchiness, some bare spots, and several areas are turning brown. What steps can I take right away to encourage my grass to grow fuller and greener? I have almost no gardening experience, but I'm eager to make it look nice. I'm located in the south of England, so any tips specific to my region would be appreciated! Thanks for your help!

Another option is to consider adding clover into your lawn. Clover is great because it can help improve soil health while providing coverage in those bare spots. Plus, it often attracts pollinators, which is a nice bonus!

A good first step is to use lawn sand to sprinkle over the affected areas. It helps to nurture the grass and control weeds, so it can really make a difference! Just make sure to follow the instructions on the package for the best results.
