I've got this window that just won't stay open. I took a look at it, and it seems like the side tracks are a bit warped, so the mechanism to hold the window doesn't seem to work right. I've tried using a shim for some extra pressure, but the weight of the window just pushes it out of place. We even tried the classic trick with a wooden stick, but it eventually pops out, too. I can't replace the windows because we're renting, and the landlord isn't willing to pay for new ones. Any ideas on how to fix this without replacing the window?

You might want to consider using a more reliable stick or even a clamp. It sounds like your current stick just isn't strong enough to hold under the pressure. For clamps, a simple C-clamp could work well to keep the window open. Just make sure to place it in a way that won't damage the frame. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into getting a stronger clamp. Do you have specific suggestions on types or sizes to consider?
