I recently found that squirrels have chewed through the soffit on my shed. I'm not sure if I should just replace the entire board or if there's a way to repair the damaged section instead. Additionally, I'd love any advice on how to squirrel-proof this area to prevent them from coming back in the future. Detailed steps would be a huge help since I'm not very handy! Thanks in advance!

You might also want to think about using mesh or metal lath over the wood once it's repaired. Those squirrels are persistent, and they’ll keep coming back if you don’t fortify it. Keep an eye on your attic too, because they can easily get in there if there’s an opening!
Consider using Hardie board as a replacement. It’s tough and might be less appealing for squirrels to chew on.
I’d recommend replacing the whole piece, and while you’re at it, put some flashing on it to prevent more damage. As for keeping those little pests away, try smearing some hot sauce on the area. They tend to steer clear of spicy stuff, so it should work pretty well!
I can’t stand squirrels either; they really will destroy your space if they get the chance!
I had the same issue and found that filling the hole with thick wood or sheet metal works best to keep them out. Chicken wire is useful too if you want a more unique solution!
I made a chicken wire cage for my garden to keep squirrels away, and it’s been working great!
We used cayenne pepper in our feeders, and the squirrels avoided it like the plague!
