How Can I Get Rid of Ants in My Plant Pots Without Hurting My Plants?

I've noticed that ants are invading my little plant pots on the bathroom window sill when I water them. I found some advice online suggesting ant killer, but I'm worried it might harm my plants. Does anyone have any safer alternatives or effective methods to deal with this?

I've had a similar issue! When I find ants in my pots, I also like to water with neem oil, which helps with various pests. But for ants specifically, I usually stick to repotting with fresh soil as mentioned above.

If it's just a couple of pots, I would recommend changing the soil entirely. Take out the plants, wash the roots thoroughly outside (please avoid clogging your drains), and then repot them in fresh soil. Don’t forget to clean the pot itself before replanting! Oh, and just to be sure, are you certain they’re ants? If they’re inside the plant, you might want to do a quick check around your bathroom to see if they're spreading.
