How Can I Get Rid of Ants in My Rooftop Garden Naturally?

Hi everyone! I'm facing a bit of a weird issue with my rooftop garden. A couple of weeks ago, someone left a chicken wing in one of the raised beds, and ever since, it seems like we've got an ant invasion! I removed the chicken wing ASAP, but the ants are still hanging around. I've tried spraying diluted neem oil twice, but it hasn't helped much. I'm looking for all-natural methods to deal with these ants since I want to avoid any harsh chemicals or pesticides. I'm also hesitant to use borax as I don't want to risk hurting pollinators or beneficial bugs. Has anyone had a similar experience? What solutions have worked for you? Thanks a bunch!

Why do you want to get rid of them anyway? I usually don’t mind having a few ants around. But I see your point about the chicken wing situation; that would definitely lead to more ants, especially since they might be farming aphids too. Just try to keep them in check without harsh chemicals.

Have you considered using diatomaceous earth? It’s food-grade and really effective. You can find it at a local feed store. Just sprinkle it around where you see the ants; they’ll track it back into the nest, which helps bring the population down.

I totally get your frustration! Nematodes are actually one of the best natural treatments for ants. They’re living organisms that attack ant colonies by eating the eggs and replacing them with their own. So when the ants realize something's off and start moving, the nematode eggs go with them and wipe out the colony!
