I've recently moved into a new house where the previous owners planted Bermuda grass, which has taken over my garden beds. I'm really focused on maintaining a healthy ecosystem for growing food, so I'm trying to avoid harsh chemicals. I'm struggling with this grass—it has thick webs of roots and long grass that make it nearly impossible to pull out! Has anyone dealt with this? Any effective, eco-friendly methods to eliminate Bermuda grass?

I’m in the same situation! Last year, I tried laying down a thick layer of mulch, but the Bermuda grass just thrived under it. This year, I’m planning to use a combination of glyphosate and landscape fabric or plastic tarps to help control it. I’ll focus on areas around my raised beds too—the grass tends to creep in from the sides. Just keep pulling up any that makes it into the beds!
Spent hours pulling Bermuda grass by hand over the weekend. It’s such a pain, but there’s something oddly satisfying about getting a big root ball out in one go! Just remember, it’s an ongoing battle, so stay vigilant!
I totally understand your frustration! Bermuda grass is really tough to deal with. The key is to manually pull it out, but be careful; if you leave even a small piece of root in the ground, it will just grow back. It can be exhausting, but it’s often the most effective way to tackle it. Good luck!
