How can I get rid of crickets in my bathtub?

I found a cricket under the frame of my bathtub, and although I waited a few days hoping it would die on its own, it surprisingly gave birth to many babies. I've noticed multiple young crickets gathering in the tub every few hours, and I've been flushing them down with hot water. I tried using ant bait outside, but it hasn't worked. I'm looking for suggestions on how to prevent these crickets from becoming a problem in the future, especially at night when they chirp!

If ant traps aren't working for the crickets, try using more targeted cricket traps if you can find them at the store. They might be more effective than the ant baits you’ve used.

I just set out what I had at home, but I’ll look for actual cricket traps next time!

Quite honestly, crickets usually die off in the winter as they don’t store food like ants. So if you can hold out until it gets colder, they might just go away on their own. That's what I learned as a kid!

Actually, crickets don’t give birth to live young. They lay eggs and those eggs hatch after about a week or two. If you're hearing lots of chirping, it likely means you have more crickets coming in from outside. Check for any holes where they could be getting in and seal those up – that should help reduce the population in your tub.

Thanks for the clarification! I sealed a hole in the kitchen which I think was the entry point. Now I need to know how to deal with the little ones I have.

Hedge apples, from the Osage Orange tree, can actually help repel crickets. If you can find some, try placing them around your bathroom to encourage them to move on.
