How Can I Get Rid of Rats in My Garden?

Asked By R4tCatcher87 On

I've noticed a rat in my garden over the past couple of days. It's been sneaking around along the fence and munching on the bird seed I had out, which I've since removed. I'm curious if anyone here has successfully used home remedies like chili pepper or peppermint to keep them away?

If you're looking for something easy and affordable, try applying chili powder around the spots you've seen them. It can deter them without causing harm, and hopefully keeps your garden a no-rat zone!

Nice tip! Just keep it fresh, though. Otherwise, they might get used to it.

First things first, securing your food sources is key! Remove anything edible that might attract the rats, like bird seed and pet food. Some folks say you can't really eliminate them completely, but keeping your garden clean is a great start.

True, but if you don't take care of the food, they'll just come back or your neighbors will have them! It's all about keeping that food source away.

I've had my share of rat visitors too, but I found that adopting a kitten really helped scare them off. My little guy isn't much of a hunter, but his scent keeps the rats away, and I still have birds in my garden!
