How Can I Get Rid of Soil Gnats in My Plant Collection?

I've really gotten into plants recently and my collection has grown from a couple to 49 in just three months! However, I'm dealing with a frustrating problem: soil gnats. I really want to take good care of my plants, so I'm looking for the best way to tackle these pests without spending a lot of time or money. Also, if I just leave them alone, will they get worse or eventually go away? Right now, I'm using those sticky traps that catch a lot of them already, but I need a more effective solution.

I totally get your struggle! I've been in the same boat with gnats. A solid option I've found is using mosquito bits to target the larvae and keeping yellow sticky traps around to catch the adults. I bought mine on Amazon and they really do help control the problem. If that doesn’t cut it, you might want to consider using nematodes as a more intense solution. Just the traps alone made a noticeable difference for me!

Mosquito bits are the way to go! They work wonders for killing gnat larvae in the soil.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give those mosquito bits a shot. I need to get these gnats under control.

Another great option is Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (like mosquito dunks or Gnatrol). If you can find it in a liquid form, it's super easy to measure and apply when needed. Definitely worth a try!
