Hey everyone! I just moved into a new apartment in Toronto, and it comes with a wall of windows. The catch is, I'm not allowed to put any holes in the walls or ceilings. I'm really struggling to figure out the best way to cover these windows. From what I can tell, the frame might be metal, so I was thinking about trying magnetic shades. But if it's not metal, I'm at a loss. A tension rod would be way too long (about 30ft from the side to the door). Anyone have any creative ideas that would let me cover these windows without causing any damage? Thanks!

You could consider using clamps on the aluminum pillars/frames around the windows. Just make sure to add some double-sided tape to keep them in place. Alternatively, building a shelf that rests on the ledge could work. You’d just need a few pieces of wood to stabilize it, and that way, you can attach whatever you need to it without affecting the walls at all!
I recommend using 3M Command hooks designed for curtains! Just place them every few feet along the top of the windows. If you combine that with some lightweight drapes, it should work perfectly! I did this for my son's room to block out more light without making any permanent changes. Just make sure the surfaces are super clean for a good bond!
Second that! I used Command hooks under my valances for light-blocking panels and it worked great! Just don’t skimp on the number of hooks you use.
For sure! Double the number of hooks you think you'll need, and make sure the surfaces are really clean or it might not stick well.
Honestly, if you're really stuck, I’d just bite the bullet and put some holes in the wall. You can always patch them up with putty and paint when you leave. It’s a solid long-term solution!
Lol that's true! Just make sure you have a good plan for fixing up later.

That's an interesting idea! I’ll definitely think about that setup. It could save me from making any holes.
