How Can I Harden My Plants Without Inviting Bugs?

I'm getting ready to harden off around 30 plants I've started in my grow tent, but I'm really concerned about the possibility of bringing bugs into the grow space. Any tips or tricks to prevent pests while I transition them outside?

I suggest covering your plants with a row cover or insect barrier while you harden them off. I made the mistake of leaving two tomato starts outside for just a couple of hours, and I ended up with gnats swarming them! I'm definitely sticking with the row cover until they’re ready to go outside for good.

Consider co-planting with flowers that bugs dislike, like lavender, basil, rosemary, and marigolds. It can help deter pests all season long!

Absolutely! Plus, they look good together! Here's a pic of my setup with some of those co-plants.

Yeah, definitely avoid bringing them into the grow tent. If you do, you’re guaranteed to get bugs. Have you thought about keeping them under grow lights instead? It might help keep those pesky bugs away.
