How Can I Heal My Fingernail After an Accidental Sanding?

Hey everyone! I had a bit of a mishap while using a tabletop belt sander and ended up sanding about 60% of my fingernail down to almost nothing, right down the middle. It's pretty thin and I've got it wrapped with a band-aid and some polysporin for now. I'm looking for ways to recover more quickly. Any tips or advice?

Honestly, there's not really a quick fix, and it takes a bit of time for your nail to grow back. If it's still bleeding, keep up with the polysporin, but after that, just keep it bandaged and protected. Duct tape works wonders for that!

It might sound a bit odd, but using nail polish or even super glue could really help protect the damaged area, just make sure it’s cleaned up first. Keep the band-aid on too, so it doesn’t get bumped around!

Yeah, I get that. Just clean it thoroughly, and if you're going to use anything like that, do it carefully!

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try to keep it clean.

The best thing you can do is just let it heal. Keep it dry and remember to change the bandage regularly. If you notice any unusual pain or swelling, don’t hesitate to see a doctor. Your nail will eventually grow back, even if it looks a bit weird at first!
