How Can I Hide a Visible Glued Joint on Wenge Wood?

I recently glued two Wenge planks together and clamped them for about 24 hours. Despite sanding, there's still a faint crease where the joint is. I'm curious about the best way to conceal this crease. Do you think using a grain filler would work on Wenge wood?

I'm guessing here since I don't have any pictures, but it sounds like you didn't joint your edges before gluing. Using a jointer or hand plane can help make smoother joints. If you're okay with a slightly visible glue line, that’s fine, but for a cleaner look, you’ll want to properly joint them first.

I haven't jointed the edges. Given that it’s just a 4" x 4" coaster, is jointing that critical? I'll post a pic soon. Thanks a lot!
