How Can I Hide the Wires from My New Ring Doorbell?

Asked By WanderingWaffle99 On

I just installed a Ring doorbell, but I had to drill a new hole because the old one was too small. Now I've got exposed wires and an ugly hole that I want to cover up. I'd like to make it look nicer without going through the hassle of running the wires inside the wall. I'm considering wrapping the wires in white electrical tape and perhaps using a piece of plastic or painted wood to cover the hole, sealing it with caulk. But I'm wondering if there's a better way to handle this? I'm more focused on aesthetics than security since my area is quiet and the camera will still work if the wires are cut. Any suggestions?

Another option is to use corrugated conduit to protect the wires. It won't be fully concealed, but it will look much better and keep the wires safe.

If I were you, I would have installed a wooden block as a spacer between the door frame and the wall. It keeps everything level, and you can use caulk to fill in tricky areas. That would look cleaner! Adding a channel for the wires sounds like a solid plan too.

Have you thought about using a Dremel to create a shallow groove in the wall for the wires? That way, you can run them through the groove and then cover it with good caulk to seal everything up. It keeps it neat and tidy!

That looks like the best idea so far!

I initially had the same idea, but the measurements didn't work out for me. I ended up installing it the way you did. But now I’m thinking I might go back and create that spacer after all, just to clean it up!

You might want to explore conversion kits for Ring, which might provide a different mounting option. I have a Wyze camera and they have similar solutions.
