I recently picked up some Miracle-Gro succulent mix, but I've realized it might not be the best choice for my plants. Most of them prefer well-drained soil, even if only a few are actually succulents or cacti. While my plants that enjoy a bit more moisture are thriving, those that need a drier environment are suffering. What should I mix into the soil to enhance drainage? Would adding sand or perlite help? Or should I just give up on this soil and buy a new mix for the plants that are struggling?

Definitely go with perlite! I also toss in some orchid bark for extra drainage, which works wonders. Combining those two usually does the trick!
I've had good luck adding perlite and some coarse sand to my soil mix. Perlite really does a great job of improving drainage! It helps keep the soil airy and prevents it from getting too compacted.
