I'm struggling with my gardening because my soil is mostly clay, which turns into solid bricks when it dries out. I've tried mixing in coconut shells, peat moss, around 200 lbs of coffee grounds, straw, and green clippings, but it still seems like I'm stuck with the same clay and mud problem. I'm specifically trying to grow vegetables in raised beds but haven't had much luck. What am I missing in my soil amendment strategy?

I've had similar issues with heavy clay. One method that's worked for me is planting cover crops like rye or peas during the fall. In the spring, I cut them down before planting my veggies. This approach helps break up the clay and improve soil texture. And a key tip: just avoid tilling the soil after that!
It sounds like you're doing a lot already! Instead of adding sand, you might want to focus on compost and mulch. Those help improve your soil structure over time. Just make sure you water your plants slowly so they can absorb moisture without compacting the soil further.
