How Can I Install a Security Door with Low Ceiling Beams?

I'm trying to install a security door at my carport, but I've hit a snag. There are cross beams above that make the height about 1.5 inches too low for the door. I was thinking about just cutting out that section above, but the angles are really confusing me. I have to admit, I'm not the most handy person around—definitely not a "home improvement person." I want this to look nice, so any advice would be super helpful! I tried posting photos on Imgur to give you a better idea: https://imgur.com/a/T40C1UE

Totally get how confusing it can be! Since you mentioned you're not super handy, maybe check out some DIY videos that explain joists and their importance in more detail. Understanding that will help you make a safer decision. Don't hesitate to reach out for expert help if you're in doubt! Good luck!

It's really important to be cautious when working with structures like joists, which are actually load-bearing. Cutting into them without knowing what you're doing could lead to serious issues. Instead of cutting, consider alternative solutions like raising the door frame or using a different door that's compatible with your space. It's worth consulting a pro to avoid any mishaps. Safety first!
