Hey everyone! I'm reaching out for some advice on installing drop ceiling tiles. I've just moved into a new house and am transforming an empty room into an office/gaming space. I'm going for a dark, neon, cyberpunk vibe, and I found some cool metal panel-style drop ceiling tiles that come in various colors, including steel finishes. My question is, what's the best way to attach these tiles to my existing painted drywall ceiling? A lot of the info I find online says I should just rip out the drywall, but I really want to avoid that if possible. There's no issue with my ceiling fan since I'm replacing it with a Nanoleaf Skylight to accommodate any height changes. Should I just screw the tiles in, use tiling glue, or install a grid system on the drywall? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You might want to check if there are glue-on type ceiling tiles that match your style; that way, you avoid visible screws and save some headroom. And about the fan, I know some cool designs exist, but if you're leaning towards light effects with the Nanoleaf, that might be the way to go!

I’m still searching for glue-ons, but nothing beats the look of those metal tiles for me! And as for the ceiling fan, I'm all in for the tower fan option. The light show will be epic!
