I've grown a bunch of strawberries this year, and I've noticed that as soon as they get ripe and turn red, birds swoop in and eat them all! I even spotted a half-eaten strawberry right outside my garden gate today. I'm looking for any tips or tricks to protect my strawberries from those pesky birds. What can I do?

A good solution is to cover your strawberry patch with bird netting. You can find it online or at local garden stores. It works really well to keep birds and other critters away from your fruits. Just make sure to secure it properly so no sneaky squirrels can get in!
There's this fun trick I've seen where you paint little rocks to look like strawberries and scatter them around your plants. The birds might peck at them thinking they're real but will soon realize they’re fakes and stop coming back. It's worth a try!
I've tried bird netting too, and while it helps, I still had issues with chipmunks. Also, slugs can be a problem, but I found they weren't too bad for me. You might want to check the conditions in your garden as well; I read that if it's hot and there's no water around, birds tend to munch more on your strawberries. Maybe adding a little water source could help?
