Hey everyone! I recently planted a peony bulb and used fish, blood, and bone fertilizer, but it seems like some critters are digging it up. The first morning, I found the bulb next to the hole, so I replanted it without the fertilizer. Things were fine for a day, but then it happened again! Now I see a green root starting to develop, and I don't want to damage it. Does anyone have tips on keeping foxes away from my plants? I don't have any fencing materials to protect it. Should I just plant the bulb in a pot until it grows more? Thanks a bunch! I'm still learning a lot about gardening!

Your fertilizer might be attracting the animals, especially since it has that warning. I switched to chicken manure and seaweed for my plants, and it's worked better for me. Maybe give those a shot instead!
It sounds like it might be squirrels rather than foxes that are causing the digging. They love to dig up bulbs!
I hadn't considered squirrels! Thanks for pointing that out!
I had the same issue and found that placing something heavy over the area helped deter the fox. I used a brick and some old wood. Just make sure whatever you use is heavy enough that they can't easily move it around.

I didn’t even check the box before using it... Thanks for the advice!
