How Can I Keep Jackdaws and Crows Out of My Garden While Still Attracting Smaller Birds?

I've been dealing with a lot of jackdaws, blackbirds, and crows in my garden lately, and they're causing some chaos by ripping up my flowers! I really want to find a way to reduce their numbers but without driving away the smaller bird species that I enjoy. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can handle this situation?

Honestly, if you're not feeding the bigger birds, there's not much you can do other than appreciate their presence. Plus, it's likely illegal to harm them. I know it can be frustrating, but they are part of the ecosystem!

I totally get that, I just wish they wouldn’t wreak havoc in my garden!

Encouraging blackbirds can actually help since they eat pests like slugs and snails. But I understand your concern about the crows and jackdaws – have you considered using bird feeders with cages designed for smaller birds? Just remember, reducing feeding might chase away the little ones as well!

Yeah, I think they’re after worms in the grass. They’ve really been going after my snowdrops and crocuses. It's wild how many are around!

It sounds strange to me that the jackdaws are being so destructive. I have lots of blackbirds and other smaller birds, and they've never damaged my plants. It could be something else causing the issue, like squirrels or deer!

I’m sure it’s the jackdaws; I see them pulling up my flowers. What a hassle!
