Hey everyone! I spend most of my time in a pretty large bedroom with the door closed, but during the summer it gets super stuffy and reaches temperatures of 75°F or higher. My air conditioner doesn't effectively cool my room because it's situated in a different part of the house, and I have a casement window that prevents me from using a window unit. Currently, I run a fan but it's not enough to make a real difference. I'm considering putting a gate at my door to keep it open for better air circulation. I'm looking for any tips or tricks you might have to help cool down my space this summer! Oh, and just to mention, my room is upstairs. Thanks!

If the AC doesn't reach your room, it could be an airflow issue. If you have a duct but no return duct, that closed door is only making it worse! You might want to try keeping your door open, or even consider installing a return air pathway to help with airflow. Just search for that term online; you'll find options!
I've been in a similar situation and found a portable AC unit to be a lifesaver. They typically have wheels and need just a vent to the outside, which you could achieve with a piece of cardboard or plexiglass in your window. Also, keeping your door open while using a fan to pull cooler air from downstairs can work wonders. Just make sure the fan is blowing outward to create negative pressure!
A radiant barrier in your attic could really help with the heat that's coming in from the sun, plus good insulation matters for keeping your room cool. If your attic is sealed and hasn't been checked in ages, it's worth looking into!
That sounds tricky since the attic access is limited. I don't even know what the insulation situation is like up there. It's been years since anyone checked.
Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely check into the portable AC. I was thinking about the window installation idea too. I only have a standing fan though, so I’m worried about that.
