I want to know how to take care of my nails, especially when I'm gardening. I think I have better gardening skills than my husband and I often dig in the dirt with my bare hands to keep those precious earthworms. I usually use a nail brush, but I'd love to hear any extra tips from you ladies on keeping my nails clean and maintaining nail health. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t have long nails or much nail care experience, but I always go barehanded in the garden. A toothbrush works wonders for cleaning under my nails, way better than a nail brush. Plus, using a good hand cream before and after really helps keep dirt from turning into cement under my nails.
That’s a unique approach! I never thought about using a toothbrush for that.
I read somewhere that if you rub a solid bar soap under your nails before gardening, it helps keep the dirt from getting stuck. When you're done, wash your hands, and the soap should pull out the dirt for you! But honestly, I usually just scrape under my nails with a knife if it's really messy.
That’s a clever tip with the soap! I might try that next time. Sometimes I just end up using whatever is handy to get the dirt out.
Also, if you want to avoid dirt in the first place, good gloves can make a difference, but I totally get gardening without them can be way more fun!
I always use gloves when I’m getting my hands dirty, something close-fitting is ideal. But if I must go without, I wash my hair after the garden session, which really helps get rid of the grime stuck under my nails. I think it’s about that extra cleaning to get everything out!
I’ve heard that washing your hair helps, but it feels so laborious sometimes! Good to know it actually works.
Interesting method! I might have to try that if I forget my gloves.

Totally agree with the toothbrush idea! And that cream tip is golden; I need to start doing that too.
