How can I keep my shower door closed when the magnetic strip is peeling off?

I'm dealing with a framed shower door that has a magnetic strip meant to hold it closed, but the strip has started to peel off. I can't find a replacement since it measures 5/32", which seems to be a rare size. I've checked with vendors and on Amazon, but no luck. It seems like showers like mine are being phased out in favor of frameless designs. What's the best solution to get this door to stay shut?

I wasn’t able to see your images, but if it’s just the magnetic strip that’s coming off, you might want to consider getting bulk magnetic strip and cutting it to size with scissors. You could apply it with some silicone or even Shoe Goo for extra hold! Just keep in mind that if the door has a groove for the strip, you don't want the bulk strip to bridge that gap too much, or you might invite mold issues.

That's good to know! I was worried about how snug it would fit. But what if I used a thicker strip? Would that help?

Honestly, if it’s really bad, just use duct tape! It’s not pretty, but it will hold that door shut for sure. Sometimes you’ve got to work with what you have!

I see what you’re saying. It sounds like you’ve got an H profile strip there, which is a bit thicker than most. Maybe you could stack two thinner strips and seal them with silicone really well? I doubt there’s a perfect fix, but that could work!
