How can I keep my sun-facing brick wall cooler in my apartment?

I've just moved into a new apartment, and the brick wall behind my bed gets a lot of sunlight throughout the day. This means it heats up quite a bit and stays warm at night, since brick tends to hold onto heat. I can't modify the outside of the building, so I'm looking for ways to cool it down from the inside. While I know an AC unit could do the trick, I'm specifically interested in passive solutions, especially since I'm in a short-term rental. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

One simple option is to move your bed away from that wall. You might also consider keeping the bedroom door and window open to promote ventilation and using a fan to circulate the air. This could help to cool things down without needing any major changes.

If you're open to a little DIY, painting the wall a light color, like silver or white, can help reflect the heat away. Just make sure you're using interior paint and confirm it's okay with your landlord. This can really help keep your space cooler!

That sounds doable! Do you think the silver color will work better than white?
