I'm really nervous about insects, and I'm trying to find ways to keep pests from damaging my plants. I understand that dealing with insects is pretty common, but I want to minimize any risks. Also, do you have recommendations for plants that are less likely to attract pests? I thought cacti would be safe, but that turned out not to be the case!

First off, it depends on whether your plants are indoors or outdoors. If you're just looking for general pest prevention, you could periodically spray your plants with neem oil, which can help make them less appealing to pests. Only go for other treatments if you notice any actual pest problems though. Hope that helps! Cheers!
There are quite a few measures you can take! For starters, bottom watering helps keep the top soil dry, which can deter pests. You can also add a layer of coarse sand or aquarium gravel on top to discourage pests, but just watch your watering schedule since it might retain more moisture. Using Microbe-Lift BMC in your water can help too! And don’t forget to keep those leaves clean and regularly check for any signs of pests. Inspecting frequently allows you to catch any issues before they become a big problem!

Thanks so much for the tips! Quick question, if I add sand, won’t it just sink into the soil when I water? Should I stick to bottom watering instead? I’m a bit worried about root rot!
