Hey everyone, I've got a bit of a situation. A raccoon has started raiding my garden and just the other day, it took some of my tomatoes and left them half-eaten. I noticed the tracks, so it's clear that it's been hanging around. I'm looking for advice on how to keep this sneaky critter away from my plants. Any tips would be appreciated!

Try setting up some barriers around your plants! One thing I found helpful was to create a chicken wire cage over my raised beds. It might not look great, but it really helps keep those pesky animals out. Also, making some sacrifice plants can divert their attention away from your main garden. Good luck!
Just a word of advice against trapping—it's usually better to deter them rather than relocate them. I set up some bird baths to provide alternative water sources, and I’ve noticed it helps divert attention away from my veggies.
If you’re really desperate, there are some unconventional methods too. I’ve heard of people using predator urine to scare them off! It can be a bit weird, but it seems to work in certain cases.
From my experience, motion-activated sprinklers can be really effective. They won’t harm the critters but could scare them off. Just make sure to position it right so they don’t figure out how to avoid it. I also set up a little perimeter fence that made it hard for them to get to my garden, which worked like a charm.
Raccoons are tough to keep away once they find food. One method that worked for me was making a spray mix of garlic and chili pepper. I’d apply it weekly to my plants. Also, try adding some physical barriers. I use tomato cages which help a lot!
That spray sounds interesting! I’ll definitely give it a shot. I’ve got tomato cages too, so hopefully that helps.

Chicken wire? I heard they can find their way around that. I planted my tomatoes next to herbs and peppers, hoping it would help deter them.
