How Can I Keep Squirrels from Digging Up My Garden?

I've got a garden surrounded by a big fence to keep out deer, but I'm dealing with some cheeky squirrels that keep digging around my garden beds. I'm not a gardening pro, so I'm looking for any tips or tricks you all might have. Do you have similar experiences? Thanks a ton!

Using cayenne pepper can be effective for some folks! Just sprinkle it around the garden, and it should help keep those squirrels away. I've also used hot pepper birdseed, and it worked wonders; they just avoid it. Worth a shot!

That sounds promising! I think I might try that, especially since the spicy birdseed worked for you!

I would advise against cayenne though—I've read it can really harm squirrels, even leading to some nasty injuries. Instead, try peppermint oil or clove oil. Just a few drops around the edge of your plants (not on them) should keep the critters away. Just remember to reapply it after it rains!

Good to know! I’ll definitely try the peppermint oil, thanks for the tip!

Squirrels are wild little creatures! If you want to, you could leave out a few walnuts for them. Just a heads up, though—they might dig holes, and who knows? You could end up with walnut trees sprouting next to your veggies!

Haha, that would be something! I’ll probably skip the walnuts then.
