I'm looking for advice on creating a wooden sign for a friend's wife's dance studio. This sign will be outdoors, and since I have no experience with outdoor projects, I want to avoid making something that will get damaged by sunlight or bad weather. Any tips on protecting it from the elements would be greatly appreciated!

Using cedar wood is a solid choice, and I'd recommend applying spar urethane to protect it. Just keep in mind it won’t last forever and will fade over time, so placing it in a shaded area is best. Avoid water-based finishes for this type of project as they don’t hold up as well.
