I'm working on a project to create a simple phone holder out of a piece of mahogany that belongs to my friend. He wants the holder to have a slot that's angled back a bit, but I want to keep the front edge perfectly vertical at 90 degrees. I've managed to make a slot in a test piece just fine, but I'm unsure how to achieve that angle on the back edge. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

The easiest way to create that angled slot is to use a table saw. Start by cutting a dado for the slot, then tilt the saw blade and make your cut at an angle on the back edge. This will give you that nice lean without affecting the front edge.
What tools do you have available? Since you mentioned a table saw, you could also use a router to create that angle if you're more comfortable with it. Just set it up with a guide to keep it straight and you'll get a clean look.

Yeah, that's definitely the way to go! Just be careful while tilting the blade and make sure everything is secure.
