I have a large wooden gate attached to my fence, and it's really difficult to operate. To close it, I have to lift it onto some small metal supports each time, which feels awkward and it's starting to break down. It also seems like it wasn't built or designed very well in the first place. Can anyone share some tips on how to improve it and make it easier to use?

You might want to add a diagonal brace from the top left to the bottom right of the gate. This triangular shape helps prevent sagging, which makes it much easier to operate. Just prop up the left side and fit that brace in there.

Would this be a 2x4? Like, making it long enough so that it starts at the bottom hinge side and goes up to the top on the opening side? I’m thinking it would rest on the support post when closed, right? That should help with the weight and sag!
