How Can I Make the Most of My 5-Foot High Space Under My Deck?

Hey everyone! I have this area under my deck that's about 5.5 feet high, and I'm in the process of getting it redecked with a roof to make it waterproof. I'm mainly looking for ideas on how to utilize this space beyond just storage. The dimensions are roughly 144" x 90", and it essentially acts like a balcony since there's a larger deck across with seating. I'd love to create something that connects both areas and enhances the usability of my outdoor space since it occupies a good chunk of my backyard. Any creative suggestions? Thanks!

If you’re feeling adventurous, you could dig out the area a bit deeper. Just make sure you plan for good drainage! It would give you extra height and possibly more options for what you can do in that space.

How about turning it into a cool play area for kids? It's a great way to utilize that space! You could add some soft flooring and maybe a few toys to create a fun environment. Even if you don't have kids, think about inviting friends or family over with little ones!

I don't have kids myself, so that option might not work for me.

I saw someone do a really nice landscaping setup with rocks and plants under their deck, which looked great! While it might not dramatically increase usability, it could definitely enhance the overall vibe of your backyard and tie both decks together nicely.
