How Can I Monitor My Solar System from Home?

Asked By SolarWiz93 On

I have my solar system set up in my garage, about 50 feet away from my house. The Wi-Fi signal makes it to the garage, but it's pretty weak. I'm using a 35amp PowMr solar controller to manage everything. Is there any way to monitor the system from inside my house, or will I need to invest in another controller?

Another cool option is to install a directional access point on your house that points towards the garage. You can set up another one in the garage to pick up and strengthen the signal for your controller. This setup can really help with the connection.

It sounds like your main issue is the weak Wi-Fi signal reaching your garage. Instead of replacing your controller, consider using mesh Wi-Fi. It boosts your signal strength and works well with most PowMr setups. Plus, it's generally an easy fix!

What exactly is mesh Wi-Fi? I haven’t come across it before.

Oh, and also check out Solar Assistant. It’s a neat tool for monitoring your system and should work regardless of location. Helps keep you in the loop on your solar performance!
